Lesson name: Letters to Winnie 


Date: 16/10/2024 

Grade: 2nd Grade 

Objective: To reinforce learning about emotions, friendship, and acceptance of differences, through reflection on the story. 

Outcome: Students will describe situations from the story that reflect emotions, friendship, and acceptance, explaining how these values contribute to positive interactions in their environment. 

Achievement Indicators: 

● Identify and name at least three emotions present in the story. 

● Describe a friendship between characters in the story, pointing out what makes it special and valuable. 

● Explain how the characters accept their differences, using the vocabulary learned. 

● Write a brief reflection in English about what they learned from the story regarding emotions and friendship. 

DBA

#1 Express simple ideas on studied topics using words and phrases. 

#2 Understand the sequence of a short and simple story about familiar topics, and retell it using illustrations and familiar words. 

#4 Mention cultural aspects of their environment, using known vocabulary and expressions.

Comprehension:

- I follow instructions related to class and recreational activities proposed by my teacher.

- I demonstrate knowledge of basic English structures. 

Classroom context: Classroom 

Vocabulary: Emotion, friendship, difference, empathy, respect, support, kindness, loyalty./ Emociones, amistad, diferencias, empatia, respeto, apoyo, amabilidad, lealtad. 

Exploration Phase (30 minutes)

 To start the class, students will be asked about their favorite part of the story and how the lessons from the story relate to their own lives. 

Structuring Phase (40 minutes)

A collective mural will be created, representing what was learned from the story, using phrases, words, illustrations, cut-outs, etc. 

Evaluation Phase (30 minutes)

Students will write a letter to Winnie, sharing what they learned from her story, using the vocabulary worked on so far.
